IETF 123 Hackathon: CODECO – Benchmarking with network-compute metrics and energy-awareness across Edge-Cloud

The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is organizing a hackathon aimed at bringing together developers and experts to exchange ideas, work together, and build tools, prototypes, and solutions that demonstrate real-world uses of IETF standards.

As part of its ongoing commitment to advancing sustainable and intelligent networking, CODECO is excited to present three focused challenges during the upcoming IETF Hackathon. These challenges invite participants to explore cutting-edge concepts at the intersection of networking, compute, and sustainability, while showcasing the practical application of IETF standards.

  • Challenge 1: Green Network Observability and Reporting
  • Challenge 2: Joint Exposure of Compute and Network Metrics for Path Selection
  • Challenge 3: Benchmarking Network-aware Edge-Cloud Orchestration with CODEF

Participants are encouraged to engage with these topics to help demonstrate the real-world value of IETF standards in action.


Moreover, via CODECO’s IRCEP program, the three best participants, in each of the challenges, will receive a financial award of 2800โ‚ฌ. This evaluation will be carried out by the experts at hand, for each of the challenges according to criteria that focuses on the technical quality of the submitted results.
